The Lineage of Gratitude

Instead of listing what you’re grateful for this Thanksgiving week, trace the lineage of a single moment in your day. Choose something ordinary, like your morning cup of tea, the warmth of your sweater, the light coming through the window, and pause with it. Then follow its lineage backward in your mind:
❤︎ Who or what made this moment possible?
❤︎ What hands touched it before it reached you?
❤︎ What unseen labor, weather, land, time, or wisdom contributed to it?
❤︎ What chain of events allowed you to receive it today?
Let yourself feel the quiet abundance layered inside one simple thing, not by forcing gratitude, but by recognizing the invisible web of people and elements that converged for one small experience.
End with a breath and silently offer a gentle thank you to the entire lineage, without needing to name it, perform it, or share it with anyone.

Watch | Join Jonathan Bailey, the actor who played Fiyero in the new Wicked film, as he guides Elmo through a simple, heartfelt moment of mindfulness. Together, they pause, breathe, and reflect, offering a gentle reminder that awareness and connection are accessible to people of all ages.
Try This | Pause in front of the mirror and take a gentle breath as you meet your own eyes, with quiet curiosity. Notice one quality that has helped you move through this year, such as your steadiness, your softness, or your strength, and speak it aloud the way you would to someone you care for deeply. Let it settle in your heart and offer yourself a quiet thank you for showing up again and again, even on the days no one was watching.
