Slow Seasonal Shifts

As we continue to transition into autumn, I find myself desiring more warmth, nourishment, and daily rhythm. This week, I invite you to join me in exploring ways in which we might slow down without stopping and nourish ourselves without overcomplicating things.

As we continue to transition into autumn, I find myself desiring more warmth, nourishment, and daily rhythm. This week, I invite you to join me in exploring ways in which we might slow down without stopping and nourish ourselves without overcomplicating things.

These shifts do not need to be complicated. They can be as simple as:

  • Wearing a scarf or adding an extra layer when you head outside.
  • Sipping ginger tea or another warm, soothing drink.
  • Adding warming spices to your meals, such as ginger, cinnamon, or cardamom.
  • Pulling out your slow cooker and making something simple and nourishing.
  • Enjoying more soups, warmed leafy greens, squashes, and seasonal fruits.
  • Adding a little honey to your diet.
  • Building in more strength training to support stability and resilience.
  • Taking a daily outdoor walk, even if it is short.
  • Spending a few moments in the morning sunlight.
  • Going to bed a bit earlier when your body asks for more rest.

As the season changes around us, may we give ourselves permission to change with it in small, steady, nourishing ways.

Inspire | “Be the kind of person who makes cashiers smile, makes waiters laugh, and who makes lonely people feel seen. In a world so obsessed with being important, being kind, present, and wonderfully human is its own kind of extraordinary.” Unknown

Taste | Mix 1/2 a cup of warm chamomile tea, 1/2 cup of warm milk, 1 tsp of honey, and a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to make a honey chamomile latte to help you settle in for a cozy night of sleep.

Try This | Open a drawer, box, or cabinet. Find something from an older version of yourself and decide if it still deserves a place in your home.
