Collecting Smiles

This week, let’s try a sweet, simple practice inspired by one of our fellow yogis—collecting smiles.

As you move through your day—walking the dog, grabbing groceries, waiting at a red light—pause to connect. Make gentle eye contact. Offer a smile. Maybe even a wave. It’s that easy. And that powerful.

Smiles are contagious in the best way. They soften us, open our hearts, and remind us that we’re not separate—we’re part of something bigger. A smile shared with a stranger is a tiny act of rebellion against disconnection. It’s love in motion.

So, when you’re out and about, take a breath, tune in, and spread a little sunshine. You never know who needs it. You never know what joy you might spark.

Let’s fill our week with connection, warmth, and kindness—one smile at a time. 😊

Inspire | “Learn to sit with it. The discomfort, the unease, the urge to move away-don’t. Let it rise, let it be. This is where wisdom is found. In the stillness, in the raw presence of what you’d rather avoid. Sit with it. Breathe through it. Feel it. And watch as it transforms you, softens you & shows you the depth of your own strength.” The Sattva Life

Read | Our studio-centered book club is currently reading Rest Is Resistance by Tricia Hersey—a powerful and thought-provoking invitation to reclaim rest as a radical act of self and collective liberation. Hersey challenges the grind culture rooted in capitalism and white supremacy, reminding us that rest is not a luxury, but a vital part of healing, resistance, and community care.

If you’re curious and would like to read this text on your own, I have a few extra copies available at the studio. I’d love to share this transformative book with you.

Try This | Count how many smiles you can collect. Keep a mental tally or jot them down in a journal. Take note of how this practice shifts your inner state. This practice is not just about brightening someone else’s day—it’s about noticing what happens within you when you lead with warmth and presence.
