Beaver | Our Foster Dog

Jeremy and I are fostering a dog named Beaver. He is around 7 years old. We don’t know much about his history, but we do know that he must have belonged to someone at some point. He is potty trained, knows basic commands, sleeps well, is very sweet, gets along with Charlie (our cat), and has significant separation anxiety.

As adults who have not cared for a pup before, we are learning a lot about ourselves along the way. Much like Beaver, Jeremy and I crave routine. We need time to build trust with one another, and we will make mistakes along the way.

While we are not yet sure whether we are Beaver’s forever family or a loving stop for him on his journey, we are taking this opportunity to slow down, share love, and learn a bit about ourselves as individuals and a couple along the way.

I hope that you will take some time this week to explore an aspect of your life in a similar way. Ask yourself what is working, what you have the power to control and change, and what you must allow and let be. Allow mindfulness and careful attention to help you explore your life through a new lens.

Inspire | “After failure, after frustration, after disappointment, after exhaustion, after heartache, be the person who musters up the courage to believe that a new attempt can manifest a new outcome.” Michelle C. Clark

Read | While it is not quite time for the seasonal shift yet, our bodies may be beginning to signal to us that we are preparing for a change. In the coming weeks, salads may start to sound a little less appealing and you may find yourself craving soups, root veggies, and chili. Take some time to read this article about 10 recipes recommended for August and Ayurveda, the science of living often paired with yoga.

Try This | Grab a piece of paper and something to write with, and make a list of all of the words that you associate with the word CALM. Once your list is complete, reflect on what you wrote and see if you can add a bit more peace to your day right now.
