Aging with Grace and Gratitude

Full transparency… I have been struggling with coming to grips with aging. As my skin and body transform, I find that sometimes I am hypervigilant and overly critical of and sad about gaining more wrinkles, gray hair, and weight along with my life experience and wisdom.

While I know I am still relatively young and absolutely grateful for each moment I am here in this body, there are days when aging feels scary and a bit overwhelming. Recently, however, I read this quote which put it all into perspective. I have revisited these wise words many times, and wanted to share them here with you…

“Don’t prioritize your looks, my friend, as they won’t last the journey. Your sense of humor though, will only get better with age. Your intuition will grow and expand like a majestic cloak of wisdom. Your ability to choose your battles will be fine-tuned to perfection. Your capacity for stillness, for living in the moment, will blossom. Your desire to live each and every moment will transcend all other wants. Your instinct for knowing what (and who) is worth your time, will grow and flourish like ivy on a castle wall. Don’t prioritise your looks my friend, they will change forevermore, that pursuit is one of much sadness and disappointment. Prioritise the uniqueness that makes you you, and the invisible magnet that draws in other like-minded souls to dance in your orbit. These things will only get better.” Judi Dench

If needed, I hope they bring a shift in mindset to you as much as they have for me.

Inspire | “Imagine being so comfortable in your body that anyone who comes around you feels comfortable in theirs.” Unknown

Yummy | I recently began placing a weekly order with Daily Harvest. I am truly enjoying the wide selection of vegan choices. They fill my belly and help me eat the way I want to when I am on the go.

Try This | Did you know that studies show the sound of bird songs, being near natural water and the smell of the forest can quickly calm the nervous system? Knowing that, spend some time outside this week… away from devices, just listen and be still.
