A Cup of Tea

Picture this…

You are holding a cup of tea when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your tea everywhere. Why did you spill the tea?

Because someone bumped into you… No. You spilled the tea because there was tea in your cup. Had there been juice in the cup, you would have spilled juice. Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out.

So we have to ask ourselves… What is in my cup? When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratitude, peace, and humility? Anger, bitterness, victim mentality, and unkindness?

Life provides the cup, and we choose how to fill it. Let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, resilience, positivity, kindness, gentleness, and love for others.

Inspire | ”The true miracle lies in our eagerness to allow, appreciate, and honor the uniqueness and freedom of each sentient being to sing the song of their heart.” Amit Ray

Listen | The next time that you need to support yourself in establishing an affirmation, consider listening to I Am by Beautiful Chorus featuring India Arie. It is a beautiful musical reminder of all that we are intrinsically.

Try This | If you feel like you are holding a little extra stress in your body, try this 5-minute yoga sequence:

  1. Sit tall. Bring the left EAR closer to the left shoulder. Hold for three breaths. Repeat on the right side
  2. Open your mouth wide, then slowly close it. Shift your bottom JAW side to side.
  3. Lower your SHOULDERS down and away from your ears. Roll the shoulders back and down a few times.
  4. Place your hands on your CHEST and breathe deeply as you focus on your exhale.
  5. Spread your fingers wide, then make a fist. Repeat a few times to stretch your HANDS.
  6. Come to your hands and knees. Inhale to lift your tailbone, chest and chin for cow pose. Exhale to tuck your tailbone, chest, and chin for cat pose. Repeat several times to relax your BACK.
  7. Bend your knees more deeply and press back to child’s pose. Breathe deeply into your back and ABDOMEN.
